Possibilities for Larry Rogers Jr. as Cook County Board President
Larry Rogers, Jr. could give Vallas the Greek Miseries.
On the way home from Leo High School, I heard WLS veteran political reporter Bill Cameron mention that it appears that Regular Democrats (read the Daley Democrats) will back Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Larry Rogers, Jr. to replace the daffy Todd Stroger as President of Cook County Board. Bill Cameron is a man with something to say. He is the real deal. Most other Chicago News Posers need Bill to ‘dumb down’ what he tells them. We Helots in the public understand completely. Bill Cameron is a newsman. Bill Cameron said that Larry Rogers, Junior might be the guy of the Regular Democrats and that news sank home. I like both Bill Cameron and Larry Rogers, Jr..
Larry Rogers Jr.’s site has this quote, “I am fully committed to ensuring that all property owners in Cook County have access to the Board of Review to contest their property assessments. No citizen should be required to pay more than their fair share of property taxes.” That will connect with voters like a shot in the arm –and take their minds off of the outrageous conduct of Todd Stroger
Larry Rogers is a brilliant choice, a great guy and connected to political dough that would make Chris Kennedy use the family holdings back east as his political jungle gym. Larry Rogers Jr. is a new breed of black politician. Like former 17th Ward Alderman, CHA Head and Daley Campaign Chair Terry Peterson, Rogers is a schooled competent and tenacious workman. The politics of race play no part in his success; rather, solid partnership with white ethnic and Latino professionals is the hallmark of his path.
I got to know Larry Rogers, Jr. through Tommy Sullivan at the Board of Review and their shared love of the ‘Sweet Science.’ Larry Rogers attends and supports every Leo Boxing Event He is not a flashy guy, nor one to demand spotlight time.
Larry Rogers’ Dad (Larry Rogers Sr.) is partner with Joe Power – the man who connected the dots and not only brought the largest personal injury settlement in Illinois history to the Willis Family, but also set the table for the destruction of Gov. George Ryan. I am conflicted by that as I am great admirer of both Joe Power (Leo 1970) and George Ryan, who attended not only my wedding, but the wakes and funerals of my wife and her father.
Larry Rogers is also a member of the firm of Power, Rogers & Smith
The Regular Democrats might have gotten it right this time for President of the Cook County Board.

Powers, My Dear Chap,
My interests conflict of necessity to the moment and the ideal that we must embrace diversity! For what is Purple, but a swell mixture of red and blue; Pink -but dandy red and unobstrusive white?
Why, where would Highland Park be with its heavy proponderance of ebony, swarthy, dusky, and ruddy hued residents? Or, WTTW without the requisite balance of persons who could find a Chinaman on 22nd Street?
Or, NPR without an hourly whisper of the Studs Terkel Full Body Massage -yours for a contribution of $200 , or more?
Why only last evening, I whipped up a pot full of pungent and savory flavors to balance the starchy blands of the carrots and spuds!
The kids ate like they was going to the Chair!
Rogers has a stronger resume’ than… a certain Kenwood resident who has gone East.
Not impressed.
Sounds like he was born on third base but thinks he hit a triple.
Haven\\\’t we had enough of sons of people ascending to heights based on their DNA.
Kent college of law ? Just step above John Marshall.
U of California ? Whoo-hoo.
And to the poster that compared him to the President:
I know Barack Obama. He is a friend of mine. John Rogers (Jr. or Sr.) is no Barack Obama.
Finally, he is part of the Jesse (talk into the wire) Jackson Jr. posse, that alone is enough to disqualify him if you are know for the company you keep.

Hello
I’m Manus A. Edwards Sr. a 67 years young life-time resident of Chicago and no stranger to Illinois politics, Chicago proper. Atty. Larry Rogers Jr. just happens to be the only viable candidate for Mayor of the great city of Chicago, who trumps all others regardless of gender, ethnicity or political pursausion, in 2011.

Larry Rogers Jr. went to law school and walked into his father’s lucrative personal injury law firm. He is like Todd Stroger or little Hynes or Lisa Madigan except he is a PI lawyer. Exactly how does being born to a rich and powerful ambulance chasing lawyer make you qualified to enter into Chicago politics or is this just what we are accustomed to in this town…or what we have learned to settle for? Either way, this town and this state deserve a little better than a little shoe in who won the sp>>m lottery.
larry rogers jr. and larry rogers sr. are both wonderful, humble people. larry rogers jr. always gives back to the community and especially to the less fortunate. each year larry rogers, jr and larry rogers, sr host a dinner for the valedictorians and salutatorians who attend the highschools in englewood, kennedy king collage, and some of the grammar school in the englewood comunity. the affair is a elegant one that is held at lawry’s “the prime rib” but has been held at the signature room, and the metroplitan club. for the past few years larry rogers, jr. has now included students from several hispanic grammar schools including pasteur elementary school. larry jr. plans to expand it with even more students throughout the various communities and they do not necessarily always have to be the top students. by the way if you wonder how i know it i plan the occasion and it has been going on for ten years. larry jr. is a humble person and his dad is too so i know that larry jr. would make a great mayor. it is time to past the baton and he should be the one who catches it for mayor and whatever turn his political career takes. officer l. stanford
