For those of you who’ve seen it, CNN’s coverage of the Chicago anti-tax tea party downtown was intended to be similar to all the other elites’ reaction to conservative movements: disdainful. Usually they allow this to show by the reporter’s supercilious uplifted eyebrow, looking around to find an opponent…in this case the very willing Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky…and summarizing with a summary statement that can be taken as dismissive…winding up with a lefty meaningful dramatic pause. That’s what Paul Krugman, New York Times columnist and preferred economist of aspiring despots, called the hundreds of thousands of Americans planning on attending Tax Day tea parties around the nation tomorrow.
They are “crazy” for not understanding why everyone seems to have a claim on the money they earn except them.

The original Boston Tea Party was caffeinated by a very simple injustice: American Colonists refused to be taxed by a government that lacked any popular representation. That was remedied a few years later in a heroic struggle that stretched from Concord to Yorktown.
So, if you’ll excuse the mixed metaphor, what’s the beef behind today’s protests? The Obama administration is cutting taxes for all except the very richest of Americans. Reduced withholding is already showing up in millions of paychecks.

The Illinois chapter of the free market grassroots organization Americans for Prosperity (AFP-IL) today responded to the governor’s budget by offering suggestions on how Governor Quinn could reform state government after six years of corruption.
The group was encouraged that the governor spoke of stimulating the economy by cutting taxes for middle-class families and some businesses. They also support trimming wasteful spending from the budget and reducing government spending by 3 percent from all departments except health, safety, and education.
