Congratulations to the Republican Illinois House leadership for
solving the Democrats’ dilemma. With the latest brouhaha over Roland
Burris’ appearance under oath before the House Impeachment Committee it
would now appear that Burris will probably not run in 2010. Had they
said nothing it would have been difficult to challenge Burris in 2010
and the Kirk Dillard ticket vs. the Quinn Burris ticket would have been
formidable (that’s Mark Kirk for Governor and Kirk Dillard for U.S.
Senator).
I have read the complete testimony of Burris before the House
Committee and there is no …

This is an open letter to Andy McKenna and the GOP leadership. Please stop asking for a special election. Senator Burris was just put into place after the Democrats publicly and openly screwed up and you want to help them get rid of their problems. We don’t need to give the Democratic leadership, including new Governor Quinn, cover to fix what they did. There will be an election for Burris’s seat! It’s the elections of 2010. We’re in that cycle now; let the voters have their chance to show their …

The man in unembarrassable—like his mentor the recently impeached MISTER Blagojevich.
It will take harsh action beyond appealing to Sen. Roland Burris’s better angels to get him to resign. (I once thought he had better angels.)
First we learn he talked to several, not just one of Blagojevich’s associates. Then that he was solicited but gave no money nor engaged in fundraising. Finally, well, yeah, he did try a bit of fundraising but it was not successful. He denies this was …

Hang in there, Roland.
Don’t quit. Finish out your term as the Democratic senator representing the cheesy state of Illinois.
It’s your best, and perhaps only, way to get even with your fellow Democrats who have turned on you with a vengeance, who have knifed you in the back after your lifetime of subservience to Democratic rule. You are the Rod Blagojevich gift to fellow Democrats that would keep on giving.
Truth is, senator, your former compadres want you out, without a second to lose, even more than Republicans, who have …

Truth comes hard in Democrat-controlled Chicago. Last week it came dribbling out under extreme pressure when U. S. Sen. Roland Burris (D-Ill.) admitted-despite the version from his earlier sworn testimony-that he tried to raise money for Gov. Blagojevich who named him to his post. Blago’s brother hit him up for $10,000 but he couldn’t raise a nickel, Burris said, but he was appointed to the job anyhow. He’s the subject of a criminal investigation and also a U. S. Senate ethics committee probe.
Struggling with denial for weeks, Burris’ acknowledgment may …

Not even the most inventive novelist could have dreamed up the press conference that erupted on December 30, 2008, three weeks to the day after Rod Blagojevich was arrested at his home for trying to sell Barack Obama’s senate seat to the highest bidder, among other alleged crimes,
Bobby Rush, the Chicago Congressman, took the stage that day in a pre-arranged plan to calm the shock of Blagojevich, then still governor, making the surprise appointment of Roland Burris to Obama’s Senate seat.

On February 10, 2009, the US Senate passed the largest spending bill in the history of the country, with a 60-38 majority vote. Voting with the majority was Roland Burris (D-IL), the Senator appointed by Rod Blagojevich under clouds of impeachment and pay to play politics.
On February 5, 2009, Barbara Flynn Currie (D-25th) received an affidavit from Sen. Burris stating that he had been contacted 3 times by Robert Blagojevich, the ex-Governor’s brother and fundraiser, soliciting campaign donations in October and November of 2008. Sen. Burris did not make this …
