After a good performance in last Thursday night’s Fox News debate, Mitt Romney received several important endorsements, including one from South Carolina governor Nikki Haley and the Des Moines Register. This morning, he made his first Sunday Show appearance in almost 2 years. Still, the former Massachusetts’ governors apparent rise, one nagging question remains: can conservatives trust Mitt Romney?

As we have been predicting, Christiane Amanpour’s days hosting ABC’s “This Week,” have come to an end, but not before one more opportunity at another town hall/debate. This morning the question was “Is There Too Much Government in Our Lives?” which seems like the biggest no-brainer since Meghan McCain.

During this morning’s appearance, Rep. Paul Ryan demonstrated why so many conservatives swoon whenever his name is mentioned. Some even cling to hope that he will enter the 2012 presidential race, which of course will not happen. On the topic of income inequality, George Will exposed the real beneficiaries of the federal government’s income redistributionist policies, and it’s not Wall Street. In fact, for some of you reading this right now, it may be you. Rep. Barney Frank appeared to provide some comic relief.

There he goes again: Barack Obama apparently cannot resist trumpeting his awesomeness, first by giving himself a grade of A-, and now by ranking himself among the greatest presidents ever! We can expect that Mount Rushmore demolition can start any time.

I took the title of this post from the late Milton Rakove, political science professor and chronicler of what has come to be known as “The Chicago Way.” It was the title of one of his books, subtitled “An Oral History of the Daley Years.”

I thought about Prof. Rakove’s book yesterday as I watched our Thug-in-Chief at yet another propaganda event, staged by the CBS branch of his PR team, address a sob story from laid off government employee, Karin Gallo. The  43 year-old mother-to-be sought help from the One in the following exchange: 

“Just under three years ago, I took a job with the federal government, thinking it was a secure job,” Gallo told Obama during the town hall, which was taped Wednesday afternoon at the Newseum.

Gallo, who is seven months pregnant, told Obama that she and her husband are also building a new house. (Watch video of the exchange above or here.)

“I’m stressed, I’m worried. I’m scared about what I — what my future holds. I definitely need a job. And — I just wonder what would you do, if you were me?”  

Apparently, National Zoo’s “non-essential employee number 7” knew what she was doing. While some of us were still scratching our heads wondering why, if she is a self-admitted “non-essential” federal employee, she had a job in the first place, we learn the rest of the story.

On "The Early Show" Friday, Gallo said that, while she didn't get to speak directly with the president, she did have a conversation with a White House staffer on Thursday who seemed eager to help, and told her several other staffers were trying to come to her aid, as well. Gallo added that she also got a phone call late Thursday from the Presidential Personnel Office, which wants her to come in Monday for an informational interview.

Asked by co-anchor Erica Hill what she'd say to other job seekers who weren't fortunate enough to come to the president's personal attention, Gallo said she "never once thought there was no light at the end of the tunnel. I definitely thought there was going to be something on the other end. ... I always just kept the faith that something was going to happen, that there was going to be an opportunity. I completely lucked out that the opportunity was so huge for me. But I guess I speak for a lot of Americans who are out of work and frustrated. And I just have to say - keep the faith and know that there is something at the end of the tunnel."

Mrs. Gallo’s experience is very instructive, and the lesson seems to have been lost in the discussion about whether Barack Obama was being honest about the decline in the number of government workers (he wasn’t), or the emotionally-driven commentary about the plight of working mothers. WWBD (What Would Barack Do)? As it turns out, he would do precisely what Mrs. Gallo did; that is, get to someone with some clout.  As for the rest of you, those who aren’t fortunate enough to have friends in high places, you’re on you’re own. If that phrase sounds familiar, ironically it’s part of the mantra that Barack Obama and his apparatchiks like to use when they are bludgeoning Republicans with demagogic accusations of cruelly demanding that people be responsible for their own needs.

Barack Obama’s “remade” America is Chicago writ-large. Picture a pyramid. At the top, are the political royalty and their well-connected friends enjoying lavish celebrity-studded parties, vacations at pricey resorts, and opportunities to line their pockets at taxpayer expense. In the middle are the various mascot groups, representing the members of the identify politics coalition necessary to win and/or steal elections, and the beneficiaries of government largess, such as public employee union members, whose livelihoods and perqs depend on democrats remaining in power. At the bottom, as you guessed, are the serfs, whose role is to shut up and work without complaint to pay for the whole sorry mess. The “law,” ostensibly neutrally applied to all, is in fact only something that the suckers in the latter group have to worry about. For those higher up on the pyramid, those pesky rules don’t necessarily apply. If you have an in, there’s a “fix.” Witness the thousand-plus waivers to Obamacare, or the tax exemptions arranged by Governor Pat Quinn to avoid the wrath of voters when they realize that his anti-business policies cost them their jobs. 

Congratulations, Mrs. Gallo, not only on your new arrival, but for reminding all of us what this administration is all about, the Chicago Way. It’s one of the few things about which B. Hussein Obama is an expert.

Today on the Teri O’Brien show (4-6 pm Central time on Blog Talk Radio), we’ll be discussing the democrats’ predictable and dismissive reaction to last week’s vote in the House to repeal Barack Obama’s unconstitutional health care scheme: characterizing it as a “stunt,” robotically repeating that the repeal is “meaningless,” all of which could be summarized by the phrase “whistling in the graveyard.” Democrats and their mouthpieces hope that if they keep saying over and over that the repeal vote is pointless, since the measure faces “certain death in the Senate,” we won’t notice that 24 democrat members of that same Senate are up for re-election next year, or the retirement announcements by two democrat stalwarts.

Gee, what could that indicate? The 24 that are soon to face voters have shown an amazing receptiveness to going along with Republicans, as evidenced by their votes to keep the current tax rates last month. Even President Obama, who had up until recently characterized the current tax rates as morally troubling, went along. Still, they repeated their mantra. As democrat House member reminded everyone this past week when he compared Republicans and their opposition to socialized medicine to the heinous tactics used by a certain infamous German regime’s propagandist, sometimes politicians think if they repeat the Big Lie, they can fool the people.

Book it: lifespan of the new age of civility in American politics, one week. Liberals can’t help it. If they can’t toss the “N” word (as in “Nazi”) around, they might actually have to debate the stuff that’s in this mess of a health care law, and people might find out what was rammed down their throats by the last Congress.

Speaking of the death of civility, there is one bright spot. Keith Olbermann, a pompous, pretentious former sportscaster who fancies himself the second coming of Edward R. Murrow and the alleged star, (and by “star,” I mean someone with viewership in the hundreds, rather than a number equal to the citizens who attended your town’s last city council meeting), of the 24-7 televised insane asylum that calls itself “MS-NBC” is off the air. No one is quite sure whether he quit, was canned, or it was a mutual parting of the ways. For the sake of the Teri O’Brien Show, I hope they plan to keep their resident screamer/ADD case, Chris “Thrill Up My Leg” Matthews around for comic relief. I know that some of you have never seen these shows. I watch so you don't have to.

On a more serious note, my special guest will be John Lott, author of “More Guns, Less Crime,”(click here to see the cover and order through amazon.com) a must-read for anyone who wants to understand why disarming law-abiding citizens is not the answer to preventing tragedies like the recent shootings in Tucson. Gun grabbers put a target on Mr. Lott--oh wait, can I still say that--scratch that. Gun grabbers don’t like Mr. Lott because his research is largely responsible for the dramatic decline in support for gun control over the last 15 years. This, despite a very deliberate campaign by the lame stream media to cover up the many instances in which armed citizens have stopped lunatics from killing and injuring the innocent.

    Oh, and even when Hawaii governor/superannuated hippie Neil Abercrombie finds B. Hussein's long lost birth certificate, proving that he was born in the Aloha State, unless it also shows that his real father is Frank Marshall Davis or some other man who was actually a U.S. citizen at the time of the One's descent to this plane of existence, it will not make him an Article II natural born citizen.

Once again, the narcissistic, dangerous empty suit who currently occupies the Oval Office lives down to our expectations by dressing like the homeless guy who begs for spare change outside the Starbucks.

Remember when we had a real president?

Leaving Hawaii, his repellant wife, the hula hoop champ, sported a hideous ragpicker-inspired dirndl skirt with--seriously--horizontal stripes across her very ample posterior. No, no, no. I don’t mean to be harsh, but whose idea was  accentuating the only thing larger than Mouchelle’s sense of entitlement by draping a huge purple banner around it?

I don’t think it’s just a rumor that she has vowed to rip the face off of any producer of any news outlet that allows the video, shot from behind, of her climbing the stairs of Air Force One, to air again. I saw it. (Remember, I watch so you don’t have to, and trust me, this you did not want to see.) It wouldn’t do to show that America’s number 1 self-appointed expert on fitness and nutrition, who, in between using her ginormous mouth and frightening teeth to pound through tons of burgers, fries, ice cream, lobster, and anything else that isn’t nailed down, is constantly lecturing us on what we should eat and when, has a rear end that you could park an aircraft carrier on, now would it?

     What an embarrassment these two grifters are! The next two years can’t end soon enough!

With the North Koreans planning their next murderous tantrum, the release of another in Wikileaks’ seemingly endless supply of Molotov cocktails, in the form of classified documents hurled at American national security, and U.S. unemployment stuck at 9.5%, the Obama administration has sprung into action. First, Himself releases a moronic, cringe-inducing PC children’s book. Then, he and the Mrs. sit down with ancient news diva Barbara Walters for the latest episode in their series “Fooling the Rubes,” this one a Thanksgiving weekend chat. Barbara didn’t mention the similar blockbuster exclusive she did with Abe and Mary Todd Lincoln. If you missed it, it was killer!

As you would expect, this hard-hitting interview covered such critical issues as the arms race, as in Michelle’s awesome pair, yet again. As we saw in that risible attempt by BW to force  feed the LSM’s (Lame Stream Media, just in case) mantra about “beautiful” Michelle down the throats of those of us with functioning rods and cones.  The show also included mention of important world opinion leaders like “Sponge Bob Square Pants,” and the Tooth Fairy. It also featured the obligatory visit by Bo, exhibiting the necessary canine cuteness. Perhaps most of the mouth-breathers they hope to take in with this con didn’t notice that some quick edits were required  to hide Michelle’s less than deft ability to deal with “her dog.” We already know she doesn’t even know how to walk him, so I don’t know why they bother with the pretense. Once that cult of the personality gets established, I guess it’s hard for its proponents to let go even after the audience has either lost interest or now finds the whole act repellant.

As I watched another predictable staged holiday performance by this pair of grifters and their enthusiastic accomplices in the LSM, I wondered if anyone else was thinking what I was thinking: (1) How much longer is the One going to be able to use his children as little kiddie human shields to deflect those irritating questions about his lack of experience? (2) Do they really believe that if they show us how Bo can shake hands, that will that tamp down on the whispers, which started in his own party, about replacing him on the ticket in 2012? (3) Does Michelle realize how ridiculously and hideously artificial her face looks, with the false eyelashes and all the other appliances and workarounds her full-time makeup artist uses to try (unsuccessfully) to make her look beautiful? As the old song goes, there are some things that you can’t cover up with lipstick and powder. Two words for you, Mich, and your well-intentioned servant, and I’m using the Joe Biden method of counting here: Tammy Faye Baker. 

Perhaps those in his own party who are broaching the topic of replacing the current occupant of the Oval Office with a grown up at the top of the democrat ticket in the next election are noticing some of the things we’ve been noticing, specifically the following: (1) the B. Hussein administration getting tough with web sites that sell counterfeit goods, but allowing Wikileaks weasel Julian Assange to run around endangering lives and thumbing his nose at the United States and its national security, responding with a semi-stern letter to his lawyer. Oooh, that’s telling him! Maybe they can use that letter as a template and send similar terrifying missives to Kim Jung Il, and his little prince successor, whose name escapes me. Is it Really Mentally Il? (2) the spectacular display of incompetence by his Attorney General, who still believes that trying enemy combatants captured on foreign battle fields is the best strategy for keeping Americans safe, despite losing his test case by the skin of his teeth. By the way, has anyone seen Mr. Holder? He has been conspicuously absent since that verdict was rendered. (3) or perhaps it is the frightening, but still comic, performance of his bumbling Secretary of Homeland Security, who just a year ago told us that “the system worked” when a person no one realized could exist outside a hypothetical universe, someone more incompetent than she, the poor Crotch Botcher terrorist failed to set off his underwear. Now, apparently, the “system,” that is relying on their amateurs to screw up more than our ostensible professionals, no longer works to the point where 3 year olds have to be subjected to treatment that in any other arena would send the perps to prison, or at least to mandatory sex offender registry. 

I’ve got a deal for Big Sis. I’ve got no problem with your agents feeling up any of the following passengers: (1) Any individual buying his ticket with cash (2) Any individual who has no luggage (3) Any individual on a no-fly list, including those of allies like the UK (that is, if you insist on displaying your bureaucratic idiocy yet again by letting him fly in the first place) (4) Any individual who has evoked so much concern in one of his parents that the parent tries to alert the U.S. government, (5) Any individual who likes getting groped by federal agents, this last category so far containing only one person, left-wing attorney Gloria Allred. The underwear bomber would have faced enhanced screening under the first four criteria. We are still awaiting word on the 3 year-old. 

It has become fashionable, and frankly a tad lame, to say “it’s sad,” when what you really mean is that it’s infuriating, idiotic, and insulting, so let me adopt the currently acceptable mealy-mouth speak and say that it’s sad that the narcissistic, unqualified, dangerous man currently occupying the White House. albeit only rarely between foreign trips, and his repulsive entitlement and race-obsessed lippy wife actually believe that another ridiculous hoo-ha like Friday evening’s borefest will distract us from his breathtaking ineptitude, her obnoxious Marie Antoinette act, and their mutual phony expressions of love for this country that they have been working overtime to destroy.

Kelly, a Chicagoan, was there when Rahm Emmanuel was pressing the flesh, kissing babies, and greeting reporters. Emmanuel didn’t account for unassuming Kelly to fire off serious journalistic questions more pressing than the requisite “how’s it feel to be back?”

Kelly didn’t account for was the manner in which Chicago reporters behaved. Are these reporters or palace guards? In the video you see them physically move to shield Emmanuel from Kelly’s questioning, as though their backs alone would deflect the questions. Kelly is berated and shoved by mainstream media journalists, but the scene stealer is when CBS2’s Jay Levine (who has not responded to my requests for comment) screams at Kelly, “Let him finish or I’m gonna deck you!”

There’s no denying the cloud of scandal over his administration. One of his chief fund-raisers, Antoin “Tony” Rezko, was indicted last week for alleged shakedowns for campaign contributions. More revelations likely will come right before the election when power broker Stuart Levine is expected to plead guilty. The governor said the charges against Rezko, if true, represent a personal betrayal by Rezko, and that he himself has never been involved in any unethical or illegal fund-raising. Our experience with Blagojevich prompts us to take him at his word. We’ve chosen to give him the benefit of the doubt and endorse him for a number of reasons.

We have our own reservations about Quinn. He can be maddeningly undisciplined, fumbling even the most sensitive issues, such as his botched early prison release program. And he has yet to find a way to check Madigan’s power.

We’d like to see the governor demand even larger concessions from the state’s main employee union and find greater Medicaid savings. We’d like to see more cuts in ineffective and duplicative programs. We’d like to see greater pension reform, with employees contributing more. And we’d like to see more ethics reforms, such as a cap on how much money party leaders can donate to candidates in general elections.

But if Illinois voters are looking for a governor who is both pro-business and pro-people, Pat Quinn is the easy call.

And bewilderingly, the Chicago Sun Times and a self appointed legal authority don’t think that Bill Brady did enough to battle Rod Blagojevich

Law professor Richard Kling, who sat in on the Blagojevich trial and teaches at Kent College of Law, similarly minimized Brady¹s role. “I don¹t remember a shred of paper generated that he was ever instrumental in anything having to do with the governor,” Kling said. “It’s bizarre these guys make these claims that they have no basis for.”

So aside from running against Blagojevich, and exposing the fraud at the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board that got Blagojevich and Tony Rezko under Federal Investigation to begin with, there is “no basis” in the claims that Bill Brady opposed Rod Blagojevich.

Plummer is vice president of R.P. Lumber, his family’s business. It is involved in property development, real estate.

The argument he makes for not disclosing his tax returns, ironically, seems to beg for disclosure: “When you have national publications claiming we have elected officials in Springfield that shape public policy, spend taxpayer money, making millions upon millions of dollars in the private sector, and we don’t see their tax returns, I just find it interesting that mine are of such interest,” Plummer said.

One way to look at it, I guess.
