FOR U. S. SENATOR—Mark Kirk (R). I swore I’d never vote for Kirk whose principles are on a swivel and whose beliefs if he ever had any are indistinguishable from his personal expediency. Imagine a guy who votes for Cap and Trade in the House because it suits the political temperament of the Libs in his North Shore district but who promises to vote against it if it comes up again in the Senate and he’s there (which it probably won’t since it’s all but interred).

What did …

Speaking at a City Club Luncheon, the Sun-Times Mary Mitchell declared (at around the 25 minute mark)
“if bill brady wakes up and he is not the governor  i think it is because he has really taken for granted that all he needs is a certain segment of the population to win this election and not doing enough to go out and court the minority vote to show he is able to understand the what the issues are outside of the communities of his own. I think he has done a …

In 2006, the Chicago Sun Time heartily endorsed Democrat Rod Blagojevich, despite widespread corruption
There’s no denying the cloud of scandal over his administration. One of his chief fund-raisers, Antoin “Tony” Rezko, was indicted last week for alleged shakedowns for campaign contributions. More revelations likely will come right before the election when power broker Stuart Levine is expected to plead guilty. In case you missed it, Medill Reports that the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority(McPier) is taking taxpayer money to invest in enterprise which benefits McPier
The $1.1 billion bond offering will include $921 million to pay off existing debt as well as $200 million for hotel expansion plans. The new money will help build a new 450-room tower onto the 800-room Hyatt Regency McCormick Place hotel, which is owned by McCormick Place authority and run by Hyatt management.

From the Rich Whitney digest, The Beachwood Reporter
In this race, I am the only candidate standing up for tax and budget reforms aimed at restoring health to the public sector, especially education.

I am the only candidate who stands with the Responsible Budget Coalition and its campaign to fix our broken tax system and raise more revenue by making it more progressive, the campaign supported by your union.
I was the only candidate who stood with you and your brothers and sisters in the IFT on April 21st when we protested for …

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie today endorsed Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Brady.
Governor Christie joined Brady at campaign events in Chicago, Peoria and Springfield that highlighted Brady’s plan for putting Illinois back to work, and for making a clean break from the tax and spend policies of the Quinn/Blagojevich administrations.
“Governor Christie is standing up for taxpayers of his state against the big government, tax and spending crowd, and I’m honored to have his support,” said Brady.
“He knows New Jersey can’t tax and spend its way out of its fiscal crisis, and …

Governor’s race got you down? Hate having to choose between the bumbling Governor Gumby and a narrow-minded Neanderthal? You have another option: Green Party candidate Rich Whitney.
But where does Whitney really stand on the issues? In his own words, from his campaign:

State Budget: The fundamental cause of our state deficit is our regressive tax system, which imposes the largest share of the tax burden on those least able to pay. We need to move toward a more progressive system by shielding lower and middle-income working people before raising the individual …
