With a single exception, however, the politics practiced by the White House “Chicago mafia” is not consistent with the Chicago machine. It is not close to what we Chicagoans have come to know and love/hate.

For example, everyone calls out Rahm Emanuel because he yells and swears and bullies to get the job done — when he gets it done.
But that ain’t the Chicago way. Not at the top. The true Chicago organization man, though he knows all the banned lyrics, does not need to use them, or even to raise …

On April 15, Jim Messina and Jon Selib, chief of staff to Senate Finance Committee chairman Max Baucus, convened a meeting at the headquarters of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) with leaders of organized labor and health care groups, including PhRMA. At the meeting, the groups decided to form two nonprofit entities to promote reform efforts, Healthy Economy Now and Americans for Stable Quality Care, that would be almost entirely funded by PhRMA. The two groups spent $24 million on their advertising campaigns; the contract to produce and place …

It’s amazing to watch how one man, speaking in plain English, can change the nation’s political climate. Newly-elected Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown did what political punsters said could not be done… he ran on the Republican ticket and won in what had been, for half a century, a democrat’s seat.

Every politician – including the President – has reacted since then. Mr. Obama’s was among the strangest. He said that Senator Brown was elected by the same discontent and anger that swept him into office after eight years …

The twins Rosencrantz (Rahm Emanuel) and Guildenstern (David Axelrod)…literally two halves of a single character… continued yesterday converting traditional Madisonian political debate into a Chicago-style gangland brawl. Their goal is to root out and destroy. They think they’re winning but in reality…like the simulated characters in Tom Stoppard’s 1966 play “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead”…they haven’t a clue about the real scenario. Re-read the play and you’ll find that these comedians are pathetic in that they are so involved in themselves that they fail to understand what was happening around …

BLITZER: Why not break down the state barriers and let all of these insurance companies compete nationally without having to simply focus in on a state by state basis?
AXELROD: Because we are trying to do this in a way that advances the — the interests of consumers without creating such disruption that it makes it difficult to to move forward.
BLITZER: Why would that be disruptive? If Blue Cross and Blue Shield or United Health Care or all of these big insurance companies, they don’t have to worry about just working …

Now, Bloomberg’s Timothy Burger brings news about Axelrod’s latest health care conflicts of interest that will come as no surprise to those who have fully informed themselves of the Chicago way. While White House press secretary Robert Gibbs assails the motives of grass-roots activists by falsely smearing the movement as corporate-funded shills, Barack Obama’s own senior adviser and chief Astroturfer raked in millions of dollars fromBig Pharma.

Two firms that received $343.3 million to handle advertising for Barack Obama’s White House run last year have profited from his top priority as president …

The hit list is getting longer. Former Obama fundraiser Tony Rezco convicted.  Reverend Jeremiah Wright disowned.  Bill Ayers disavowed as a close ally.  Illegal immigrant aunt estranged.  Former friends Governor Rod Blagojevich and  US Senator Roland Burris iced out.
It’s getting crowded under the Obama political bus.  And now another person is taking a big fall under it – this one, Michelle Obama’s former boss in Chicago.  In fact, this is the man who approved raising Michelle’s salary in Chicago – for “Community Outreach” — from $150,000 to $370,000 – a …

You have perhaps been touched by the words of President Obama at Notre Dame calling for “open hearts, open minds, fair-minded words” in debates on cultural issues such as abortion and gay marriage. Touching. Very touching. But as usual with the Obama White House, they don’t follow their own high-minded advice. Take David Axelrod who just before Obama delivered his stirring encomium, described Carrie Prejean, Miss California, as a dog for the only reason that she opposes gay marriage.
Axelrod whom I’ve debated many times in years past…before he became the …

The Chicago Tribune has an article promoting David Bernstein’s long article in Chicago Magazine:
Axelrod was “the main architect” of Blagojevich’s ascension to CongressHere’s an important quote from Chicago Magazine:
Axelrod was also a fierce protector of his client. He brought in his friend Carol Ronen, a progressive state representative and vocal gay-rights activist, to be campaign manager—a move intended to put a good-government face on Blagojevich, who was seen by many as simply a Machine hack.As Capitol Fax reported Carol Ronen is a loyal hack:
Former state Sen. Carol Ronen’s brief gig …
