Majority rejects government funding of abortions

Public Opinion Strategies just completed an national opinion poll for Susan B. Anthony List on the issue of health care reform, asking the public's views on abortion, and they found among 800 registered voters the following views:

“Whatever my opinion on the issue, I think it would be wrong for the government to pay for abortions.”

55% Agree

42% Disagree

“I do not want the government to help fund health care plans that fund abortions.”

52% Agree

44% Disagree

“If the government is going to make a public health plan available for all Americans it has an obligation to provide abortion services under that plan.”

38% Agree

58% Disagree
