It should not really be such a big suprise that Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-19-IL) had a very difficult time on Wednesday answering a simple question from WLS radio host Don Wade as to her opinion about how much of every dollar that Americans earn should they be allowed to keep?  Yes you read that correctly as "be allowed to keep."  She could not come up with any answer except that "You don't deserve to keep it all." because "we" have decided on certain national priorities that "we" need to pay for.  LIke President Obama, Schakowsky is always delberately vague on which subjective and fuzzy defintion of "we" she is talking about.

Jan Schakowsky does not really say if by "we" she means "we in the Congress" or "we in the farthest Left Wing of the Democratic Party."  To understand the mentality of a socialist-leaning Democrat, one first needs to understand that people who are that far to the Left subjectively use the word "we" to mean that "they" presume to decide all things for all of government and all of society at large.

Because they really do not believe in limited and free self-government under the rule of law, socialists cannot make any distinction at all between the role of government and the role of society as two distinct forms of human organization.  To socialists, government is society and vice versa so citizens cannot be allowed to be free to do as they wish because they must be viewed as the property of the state who are forced to serve the state as their master.  This is their obligation to the government, like a feudal serf had an obligation to the baron, and the demand is always supposedly for "the greater good" of all as defined by the socialist elites.

Of course, Jan Schakowsky would cite examples of what she thinks is beneficial government spending such as cancer research by the National Institutes of Health as something that "we" must support always with "our" money that always belongs to the state in the first instance (in the socialist world view).  Shakowsky is so myopic in her socialist cloud that she never even heard of the hundreds of breakthroughs in medicine that were made by private research foundations over 100 years and she apparently thinks only government can manage such research.

News flash:  Dr. Jonas Salk was not working for any government agency when he developed a vaccine to immunize childen against Polio in 1955.  Salk worked for The March of Dimes, which, while it was founded in 1938 and partly parly inspired by FDR's battle with infantile paralysis, was nevertheless funded by millions of private donations and not by government grants.

Shakowsky always would view any area of human activity as fair game for government regulation and taxation because all of us must serve her eccentric notion of the greater good in a socialist society.  Schakosky and her leftist pals will tell us what is the greater good so that we don't have to worry about that.  Wow, what a relief.  Now I can relax and not worry so much that my tax dollars have paid in the past for obcene art work that mocks Christianity because "we" must support all the lunatic grants given out by the government through the National Endowment for the Arts.  That is not something for the "greater good" that many of us would ordinarily prefer to pay for with our own money if we had a free choice in the matter.  But the Left has decided that "we" should pay for it and our opinions or objections are not really very important.

Read that as the government to formerly free citizens: "Shut up and sit down because we know better than you do how your money should best be spent."  "We know best because we are the Elite Left with a monopoly on all morality and wisdom and we have the power to force you to do as we say."  One needs to understand also that Schakowsky and pals on the far Left worship every day at the altar of their secular god whose name is Government.

Like the real Creator of the universe that many of us know as the Good and Loving Lord and historic God of Abraham , their secular god is called Government is also a jealous god who will have no other gods before it.  When the far Left socialist-inspired politicians such as Schakowskiy and Obama run the government, they have no worry about separating church and state because their secular religion IS the state.

So in the Schakowsky world view on the far Left, it is incumbent upon you the taxpayer and citizen to justify your selfish desire to keep some of the fruits of your own labor for your family.  You cannot deny the insatiable appetite of "the secular god of the all-powerful and all wise Government" from using your money for the benefit of "the greater good."
