CBE spending more money to find out where other money went

The Tribune is reporting today that the Chicago Board of Education will spend more taxpayer money to "hire a former federal prosecutor to investigate how members use their taxpayer-financed expense accounts." The move was prompted by Chicago Tribune inquiries into spending by the late board president Michael Scott, who committed suicide a week ago.

    The quick and least expensive fix to this problem is to place a referendum on the ballot, raising the question as to whether or not Chicago should have an elected school board. We already know where the money went.
