Hastert from the Hastert for Congress campaing

Ethan Hastert, candidate for Congress in Illinois’ 14th Congressional District, today issued the following statement after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other House Democrats emerged from weeks of closed-door negotiations creating their massive new $1 trillion partisan proposal for government-run health care:

“Instead of producing a bipartisan proposal that delivers the solutions Americans want, Democrat leaders are simply pushing ahead with a government-run health care experiment that will drive families into government-run care and kill jobs with massive new tax hikes and mandates.

“We can reform health care in a bipartisan way with common-sense incremental reforms that preserve the sanctity of the doctor-patient relationship while making health care more affordable, more portable and more accessible.  And we can accomplish this reform without cost to taxpayers.

“The residents of the 14th Congressional District deserve to know whether Bill Foster supports this tax-increasing, job-killing, Medicare-cutting, trillion dollar government takeover of health care.”
