Hi Jerry, It is too bad all the people & kids killed in Chicago. I have a solution. The mayor had a program to turn in guns & he said he had great reponce. If he would have a program to turn in a gang member, with no names given out of the people reporting the names. The higher the gang member the higher the pay out. The problem is gang members are the problem not the guns. This would help solve the problem. The mayor dosen\’t have the guts to do it

I was so excited today when after listening to Lou Manfredini, Jerry Agar came on WGN radio at 9 AM. I was really depressed when he was replaced by Mancow on WLS. I no longer keep WLS on all day. Now there are two shows I really like on WGN. One is Milt Rosenberg on week nights. And now I get to listen to Jerry Agar again. He’ll be on WGN again tonight. )

There is a reason that the Sun-times and Chicago Tribune are losing market share. They’re negligent in informing the public; consequently, they are worthless. One can get information faster and less biased from alternate media sources, but, you have to dig it out yourself.

I’m not missing the local newspapers.

I stopped listening to WLS durning 9-11 am and tune into WIND. Mancow is a personality but I never really cared for him. Bring back Jerry x 10. Also, WLS has way too many commercials.

WIND is trying to exploit the shuffle at WLS by promoting itself as the “cow free” radio station.

It is a strange programming decision on the part of WLS.

No rational person on the planet who knows Fr. Phleger believes he would ever do physical harm to anyone. While his passion for protecting others from gun violence was expressed inappropriately for public consumption, Jerry Agar’s attempt to salaciously convert him into Charles Manson was also inappropriate. That is not community-based, serious news. One feaux pas does not a demon make, so Mr. Agar probably should have gotten another chance too.

Isn’t that something that the media can report on then let the customers decide for themselves what a raving, screaming Fr. Pfleger means when he leads a mob attacking a business? Only after Agar played it did anyone, including the Archdiocese react to Pfleger’s threats.

If Fr. Pfleger meant no harm, as you state, perhaps he should have said that rather than threatening to drag a shop owner out “like a rat”.

That must be some new type of rationality that I am not familiar with.

When Jerry Agar first replaced Eileen Byrne I wasn’t pleased–why would we want this guy instead of a real Chicagoan??? But I grew to love listening to Jerry–he did his research and brought common sense and a strong sense of morality to the show and to WLS. I’m very saddened to have lost him during the prime 9-11 hrs. Mancow is a nice guy, (and I’ve really tried to like his show) but he’s just not the right fit for this time slot. So WLS management–bring back Jerry and put Mancow in the 6-7 slot. Roe already has too much time on the air.

Jerry raised valid issues–Pfleger, Annenberg, etc. and cared about his audience and Chicago. It’s time for someone to really see the print media here for what they are–cheerleaders for the corruption that has become an accepted way of life and just elected a “machine” guy as president.
