The 114-year-old home of the Chicago Athletic Association, once the playground of some of Chicago’s most prominent leaders, hosted its last annual meeting Thursday evening.

Of course, the article neglects to mention that the Chicago Athletic Association was formerly a prominent GOP club which included many leading members of the Republican Party in Cook County. William Hale Thompson achieved his first public recognition as an outstanding athlete on the CAA football and water polo teams. Congressman and later US Senator William Lorimer was another member. William Wrigley was another prominent Republican member who served as a delegate to several nominating conventions.
