Stroger ends bid for hospital funds

Cook County Board President Todd Stroger is laying the groundwork to turn to taxpayers for more money to help in his struggling public relations efforts.

In a proposal to the County Board, Stroger’s hospital chief asks for $120,000 for a five-month contract with a clout-heavy PR firm to spread the good word about the hospital and its services.

Dan Kelley says:

No point in asking the salaried patronage loafers to process the paperwork for the hospital to receive millions of dollars in Medicare reimbursements. You cannot expect 8th Ward members to earn their paychecks that way.
It is easier to tax the property owners who will never set foot in Stroger Hospital to pay the bills, again.

Bill Dwyer says:

Economics isn't my strong point, but my formally economically uneducated mind (Micro 101, Macro 102) strongly suspects that if the Toddler and his populist old man had done anything worth crowing about prior to now, they wouldn't need to propose spending $120,000 with anyone to tell people about it.
What ever happened to word of mouth? Oh, that's right- the word of mouth is pretty damn bad. So I guess the solution, in Todd's limited thought processes, is to spend enough to pay for a good, qualified doctor for a year to try to convince people other wise.

C'MON, Republicans. You couldn't do better than THIS? Shame on you. You have three years to gather your forces. Start NOW.
