The Department of Homeland Security sued the state of Illinois on Monday to block a recently enacted state law that prevents Illinois employers from participating in a new federal citizenship verification program.

Simply marvelous! For the sake of appearing politically correct and to appease the vocal politicians pandering to noncitizens and nonvoters, Illinois enacts another useless law that is likely to be invalidated after a costly court challenge. The same goes for the legislation granting illegal aliens discounted "in state" tuition rates not available to citizens of the USA living outside of Illinois.
Does anyone recall when our supine politicians claimed that local police officers could not enforce immigration laws because that was solely a federal matter? Now, these same panderers have stood that earlier argument on its head.
