A Ticket For Winning in Illinois: Gidwitz and Vallas
Paul Vallas should avoid the Cook County President Race like a drunken blind date with a festering cold sore. The Cook County mess needs to be cleaned up by the boys and girls who created the mess – if that means the power suits who foisted Todd Stroger upon us, then so be it Dudes – back Todd again! Let Buzz Saw Tony Peraica gut whomever he needs to win the big chair that Todd Stroger dangles his feet high over the carpet in the County Board Hearing Room.
Paul Vallas was long gone and away from the world created by Forrest Claypool, Mike Quigley, Bobbie Steele, and Tony Peraica. Stay clear of this one, Paul. Get your feet wet as a campaigner. You could use a little seasoning on that dish, as you have been in appointed positions for years. Sadly, you lost your first campaign and the Stigma of Loser is wrongly tagged on you. Illinois was the real loser when Blagojevich squeaked out a Primary win. The too cute by half Democrats in the positions of Ward power, with exception of the Joyces and the Sheehans, posted with Blago. So noted.
Do not go top ticket. You are young. You have plenty of time. Ron Gidwitz will make a fine Governor and so will you in a few years.

Is Ron Gidwitz considering a bid for office in the upcoming election cycle? I just did a web search, to look for info or speculation, regarding this. I was disappointed with the response he sent, to an electronic letter I sent earlier this summer, regarding my CRNC Midwest race. I wouldn’t think that someone who was planning another major run for office would be that curt (considering the circumstances), but perhaps he is still deciding, at this point.
As for Paul Vallas, I was glad to see when he switched parties. It would’ve been great if he had beaten Blagojevich in the 2002 primary; that way, even if the Democrat prevailed, we would’ve had a decent Governor.
Both gents ( Ron Gidwitz and Paul Vallas) have made great contributions to public service and would lead Illinois out of the Goof Wilderness Years.
Time is money and money time in politics. The insulated goofs, of who Blago is a Poster Boy, protected by the loyalties and obligations of voters to those who for some reason sponsor and help them is as much an obstacle to getting quality people on any given ballot as Money and Time.
It seems to me that both gentlemen have explored the realities of the Illinois political landscape and seem to have determined that Time ( waiting for the best possibel and most plausible moment to re-enter the arena) might be the key.
Leave your response!
