Who Would Have Thunk It?Leftists Favorite Window Factory Bankrupt, Again.

History repeated itself, ruefully, for workers at Sound Solutions Windows & Doors Inc. when the Southwest Side window maker shut down this month, shorting them of vacation pay. Many were treated the same way in the closing of its predecessor, Republic Windows & Doors Inc., which led to a six-day occupation of its Goose Island plant in 2008 and drew rebukes from President-elect Barack Obama and other pols.

Unaffected by Sound Solutions’ demise is Republic’s former president, Richard Gillman, ….. Mr. Gillman, 61, was sentenced in December to four years in prison and fined $100,000 for looting Republic. He’s not spending his days—or nights—in Stateville Correctional Center, however. Instead, Crain’s has learned, he’s a marketing director on a work-release basis at Archway Construction Co. in the Clybourn Corridor, not far from Republic’s former Goose Island factory.

The sit-in at Republic resulted in $1.75 million for about 200 employees from creditors JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Bank of America Corp. The Wall Street banks, in the aftermath of the financial crisis and with the impending inauguration of a president from Republic’s hometown, had reason to curry favorable publicity with the voluntary payment.

No such leverage exists for Sound Solutions’ 200 non-unionized workers.

Sorry to hear you are still a bit &#m393utton&#;9; Curtise, although some people would argue that it does have it's benefits. (can't hear kids fighting, OH moaning etc, but I'm sure that doesn't happen in your house anyway) You look so pretty in your poncho and beret and Pillsy is a picture too. Looking forward to seeing you model your latest vintage treasures.
