There’s much much more, once you get Quinn’s capital spending plan into Excel format.  Feel free to download, sort and search on your own favorite example of how the budget crisis is being managed in Illinois.

Please explain what I’m looking at. Is this a done deal or a wish list? Why are there some repeats? (The DuPage Convalescent Center’s Kitchen improvement, while modestly priced, shows up more than once.) This is interesting, but I’m not sure what to do about it.

    Hi Kate,

The money is appropriated, but not necessarily spent yet. There are two separate bills which comprise the capital bills, so there are duplicates. There are also some type of gremlin duplicates, which are unexplained.

The list comes straight from Gov. Quinn. We just put it into MS Excel format so we could search and sort on it.

It would be like pulling teeth to get the legislature to relent from their crazed spending….so…perhaps the voters can perform some mass dentistry.
