Tribune Wants Terrorists in The Galena Territory. What About Illinois Voters?

John Powers 20 November 2009 4 Comments

If for no other reason, since the Trib is supporting bringing Gitmo to Illinois , then shouldn’t sensible people be questioning the sanity of importing terrorists to the Galena Territory?

The Tribune Editorial Special Ed Bus is driven by the splendid young woman who believed that the Hudson River landing by Capt. Sully Sullenberg was a story that had no legs – or landing gear.

    Yep! Genius.

Now, chosing Thomson – The Melon Capital of World – for two-hundred terrorists who snack on that juicy fruit – might have been at the frontl lobe of that collective brain, but I really doubt it.

Dithering Dick Durbin has never suffered from an original thought in his life an neither has the Medill Empire.

The left is mis-casting the conservative opposition to the Thompson pen as fear – fear of escape, fear of Midwest terrorism, etc.

The real opposition to penning the Gitmo prisoners in Illinois is hand in hand with trying them in the US as US civilians, giving them the rights and the megaphone to spout their hatred of this country.

If they are convicted (about a 50% chance), we will set a precident of housing every future outside evildoer in Illinois.

First of all, the Thomson Prison is about 45 minutes south of Galena, and it already has 200 prisoners. It was built in 1999 for 1,600 prisoners and sat empty until recently.

Secondly, The Galena Territory is a 6,800-acre resort home development about 15 minutes east of Galena. It’s not the same as Galena.

Furthermore, it’s fine with us if they sell the prison to the feds and fill it up. The jobs it creates will be lifesavers for Savanna and Thomson and Hanover. And the staff it imports will buy real estate, cars, appliances, furniture…and eat and shop in Galena.

    Bring ‘em on!

Being one of the people who STOPPED the prison from being built in Jo Daviess County portion of Savanna Army Depot. The good news for Carroll County is they can start building a VERY LARGE court house for all the legal issues that the Gitmo inmates will create. Now thats a jobs program. Carroll County and Thomson will believe anything. Plus they will not get any prison jobs because they are federal jobs not state jobs
