Republicans with a Strategy: Show Up in Cook County
I would offer for your consideration, the amazingly obvious path to victory for Republicans in 2010 is grassroot activity in Chicago and Suburban Cook. Since I work for the Chicago Republican Party, one would be correct to think my analysis is for self-interest, so let me simply present the facts.
Both Chicago and suburban Cook County each represent 20% of the statewide vote. Cook County represents nearly half of the statewide vote.
Illinois is considered a blue state, but prior to George Ryan’s conviction, Republicans won 75% of executive offices. This is because there is a predictable 18% decrease in voter turnout reducing the Chicago Democrat advantage for executive office election cycles. 74% of registered voters vote in presidential cycles and 56% of registered voters vote in executive office cycles (96% confidence interval)
