Nothing Says Good Government Like a Rezko Co-Schemer Heading a Healthcare Board
Here’s the Tribune on David Carvalho
An official with decades of experience in health care law, policy and planning was chosen Thursday to head up the board that oversees Cook County’s vast public health system.
David Carvalho, a deputy director for the Illinois Department of Public Health, was picked by his fellow board members as chairman of the Health and Hospitals System that runs the county’s hospitals and clinics.

And here’s State Senator Susan Garrett, a Lake Forest Democrat
During the hearing with Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board executive secretary Jeffrey Mark and Illinois Department of Public Health deputy director David Carvalho, state Sen. Senator Susan Garrett, a Lake Forest Democrat, was inspired to perhaps be a whistleblower herself.
Garrett asked Carvalho about a conversation they had at the Statehouse Inn. Carvalho said he told her that in the Tony Rezko documents Mark had a ‘TR’ next to his name (meaning Rezko helped him get the job) and it would surface, but Garrett said she remembered it differently.
Garrett said Carvalho told her Tony Rezko recommended him for his job.
