Lipinski Sacrifices Constituent Jobs, Homes, Liberty for Fashionable Political Authority
Hey, Cap’n-Trade Lipinski, Great Job You Did On the 3rd District!
So, you voted for the Cap and Trade Bill, which needed 218 votes to pass the House and you and Republican Mark Kirk gave them the legs up and over on it and betrayed your people; so you listened to Chuck Schumer (D.NY) and he assured you plenty of help come the next election; you got all cozy with SEIU and went back to Chuck Schumer and he laid out a nice grassroots Progressive strategy for that election as long as you vote for Universal Health; so, you think the 3rd District is going to vote you through a primary fight?
Congressman, it is not going to happen. Some one will step up and challenge you for the 3rd District Democratic nomination. It could be Jimmy –the- Two-Headed-Twin of Tommy the Crystal Meth-Head, or Harley Working, or Lardo the Slim-Jim eating Champ of St. Rene Goupil Parish and that person would defeat you. However, I believe that a real Democrat will step up and represent our District. Folks, aside from the three hundred or so who showed for your Obama Health Care Medicine Show last week, are really, really mad at you, Dan.
They are angry enough to forget what a great guy your Dad is and that Democrats tend to be really loyal people.
Here’s why. The Cap and Trade Legislation is the single most idiotic and dangerous legislation to come down the pike, since Prohibition. Like Prohibition, it was crafted by daffy dopes who ooze earnestness and faux compassion, but in reality would never drop a nickel to starving blind girl with rickets.
Let’s say Casmir Prochaska, 63, is laid off at the refractory on Archer Ave. & Central and has been working part time for Bobak’s Sausage over by Pulaski on Archer.
Casmir went from clearing, after taxes, medical, retirement, social security & etc., about $ 1,200 every two weeks – with overtime that is and is now getting, about $ 700 every two weeks and paying into a C.O.B.R.A. for himself, the Mrs. and his daughter, who is looking for work after college. She is one of the great 9.5% Americans without work.
Casmir is two months late with his Wells Fargo mortgage of $ 865.00 per month and has the kid’s student loans on his back.
Casmir decides to sell the house that he owned for twenty-five years and move into a two-bedroom apartment at $ 700 per month plus utilities.
Congressman Dan, Casmir will need to stand a Cap and Trade inspection to make sure that his seventy year old raised ranch on Central Ave. is Energy Efficient and up to Federal Energy Standards – insulation, electrical, gas, air-conditioning systems, windows and more insulation and have the new Obama un-sexy light bulbs, before Casmir can down-size his life.
Casmir would need to scratch up – Oh let’s say – about $8,000 large and change just to sell his home at a loss. How can he borrow that? He can’t.
Congressman Dan Lipinski, you politician-ed Casmir and the thousands of people, that you say you represent as a ‘Conservative’ Democrat, into the worst economic catastrophe since October 1929. Now, you are about to put one in our ears on Health Care?
Congressman, the clock is ticking on your time in office. You played ball with the very people who have contempt for the people of the 3rd District – ACLU, Planned Parenthood, ACORN, SEIU and the DNC. The very people who sent carloads of Grassrooters to defeat you in the last election are you new pals?
Good luck, Cap’n Trade Dan! Whoever chooses to run against you has my vote.
Read this Congressman, which I am sure, you did not prior to tossing the 3rd District into oblivion:
Any Representative who voted for this needs to have the favor returned and voted out of office. The Senate has yet to consider it, so it needs to be stopped there!
A couple of things the bill does that would ruin new home sales and general real estate: (1) it creates a national building code for energy efficiency and specifically mandates that it takes precedence over State codes, and (2) it creates a federal inspection of all homes before they are sold or recorded to label the energy aspects of the home and make them a matter of public record.
There are so many implications here for reduced property values, further manipulation of appraisals, refusal to lend on certain properties, inability of people to even market their properties, increased construction costs, usurpation of State’s and local government’s rights – and even worse.
In a cap-and-trade system, government essentially takes ownership of all CO2 emissions and distributes “carbon credits” to the private sector. Politicizing energy distribution and usage through cap-and-trade systems is a great way to reward politically connected energy producers at the expense of the general population, the energy consumers.

I don’t know if Pat Hickey is a ‘boy’ or a ‘girl’ (in alphabetical order!) — not that it matters (remember the great Saturday Night Live skit), but ‘she’ or ‘he’ (not in alphabetical order, but a form of countervailing political correctness) writes extremely well and compellingly. I say compellilngly because I support the principle of cap and trade but it obviously has defects in its implementation.
I would not (read: defeat or replace) Dan Lipinski for this particular vote, but it is obvious that adjustments need to be made in order for this concept to be equitable.
For Dan’s sake, I hope Pat Hickey doesn’t decide to run herself, himself.
Why, Phil, you turn a girl’s/guy’s head!
Dan Lipinski, it seems to me, has taken the turn toward the path of least resistance – the congressman would rather have the Purple T-shirt crowds off his back, than the people of the 3rd District behind him. Witness, the vote on Cap and Trade and his public support of a government path to Health Care paid for by the already burdened tax payers.
I am a life long resident of the third.
I voted gor his dad over Russo, even though I liked Marty.
I voted for him when he was appointed.
I voted for him in 2 primarys and 3 generals even though I knew and liked Kelley.
I talked my wife, inlaws, parents, siblings, thier spouses and MY friends into voting for him even though he was not their choice.
I WILL NEVER AGAIN REPEAT THAT MISTAKE AGAIN.
Great piece, Pat! I too am a constituent of Dan\\\’s, and I got a real load of BS when I called his office Monday. I plan on mentioning this piece on my show today, and I shall link to it at teriobrien.com. Keep up the great work!
