Energy Tax Hike Vote Causing Trouble for Mark Kirk
The Republican congressman from the Chicago suburbs is running for the Illinois Senate seat formerly occupied by President Obama, but he is currently spending his days on the campaign trail attempting to placate a conservative base furious over his vote for the House climate bill.
The moderate Kirk has long been viewed as the GOP’s best hope of recapturing a Senate seat in the solidly blue state. But in the couple of weeks since announcing his Senate bid, Kirk has been repeatedly hit from the right over support for the climate bill and analysts say it is possible the issue could dog him throughout the campaign.
“Our members are very upset with that vote — we have yet to receive a good answer and in our opinion there is no good answer for that vote,” said Joe Calomino, director of the Illinois branch of Americans for Prosperity, an organization that advocates for fiscally conservativepolicies. “On a statewide level, that vote is an anti-free market vote.”

Regardless of your view on the vote for Cap and Trade, overall Mark Kirk has been a true supporter of the free market. Mark Kirk has constantly voted against Obama’s policies which are a true threat to the free market. Kirk is fighting vigorously against Obamacare and voted against the stimulus and omnibus. Kirk has also constantly fought for lower taxes and against wasteful government spending. Alexi Giannoulias on the other hand has abused the free market for his own gains by giving out loans to the mafia and helping donors get into U of I while destroying the free market for everyone else by bankrupting Illinois particularly vital programs such as Bright Start. Giannoulias will also be a lap dog for Obama’s reckless policies. Mark Kirk will be a firm vote against them. If you want Alexi to win go with a candidate like Varga or Wallace. If you want to defeat the Obama machine go with Mark Kirk.
Hey Danny, Kirk might have to face a conservative in the primary first before he faces an Obamanite. Then he can explain his votes on raising taxes etc to some very weary voters.

Another attempt by the New York Times to scare people off of voting for Kirk. The left is afraid Kirk will take the Senate seat…which he will!
