Craven Media Monopolist Marin Declares a Vatican “Attack on American Nuns”

Chicago Daily Observer 25 June 2012 2 Comments

Here’s Carol Marin

Could there be — don’t gasp — something positive, even providential, about the Vatican’s attack on American nuns?

I’m beginning to think so.

My change of heart is not meant to contradict earlier criticisms. In April, the Vatican’s orthodoxy wing, the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, slapped down the majority of American nuns for being “radical feminists.”

It lambasted them for being too interested in poverty and injustice and insufficiently fixated on abortion and contraception the way the male hierarchy is.

The Vatican authorized a takeover by bishops of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious.

Here’s what the Bishops are actually doing (which bears little to no resemblance to Marin’s ravings) as summarized by Bishop Blair

Those who do not hold the teachings of the Catholic Church, or Catholics who dissent from those teachings, are quick to attack the CDF and bishops for taking the LCWR to task. However, a person who holds the reasonable view that a Catholic is someone who subscribes to the teachings of the Catholic Church will recognize that the Catholic Bishops have a legitimate cause for doctrinal concern about the activities of the LCWR, as evidenced by a number of its speakers and some of its resource documents.

Odd, I was never once slapped, pummeled or berated by a priest or brother much less a Bishop in all of my sixteen years of Catholic Education.

On the hand, belt and yardstick, my pals and boon chums of both genders were on the business end of the rage of these paragons of Social Justice on a daily basis.

Nice picture of Carol up there, but way too much lipstick.
