Communist Rioters Kind of Like D-Day Heroes

Chicago Daily Observer 26 May 2016 One Comment

From DePaul President Rev. Dennis H. Holtschneider, C.M., commending the Communist Disruption of a DePaul College Republicans Event

I realize that many of yesterday’s protesters hold similarly noble goals for a more inclusive world for those traditionally held aside by our society. I realize also that these young soldiers died for all the freedoms enshrined in our Bill of Rights, including freedom of speech and assembly. We honor their sacrifice best if we, too, remember and honor all the rights of human freedom, even as we fight for more freedom and justice for all.

More than a full decade ago, I requested to have my name permanently removed from DePaul’s alumni mailing lists and to stop receiving telephone solicitations to make donations to the formerly Catholic university. DePaul maintains a nominal religious identity solely for tax purposes. I regret that I cannot remove my name a second time in protest.

DePaul happily employs radical leftists on its faculty, including a member of the Political Science Department who was urging on those provocateurs who were in attendance for the sole purpose of causing the cancellation of the Breitbart event. In fact, I was told by one attendee the security guards refused to intervene when BLM agitators stormed the stage, but threatened to arrest YR spectators who wanted to have the Chicago Police Department summoned to arrest the militants who threatened the speaker and various audience members.
