Biden Donates $1,885 to Charity, Including $550 in Clothing
The Bidens claimed $61,617 in itemized deductions, including $23,561 in state income and property taxes, $37,264 of mortgage interest paid, and $1,885 in charitable gifts, which included clothing donated to Goodwill Industries in March and May of last year they valued at $550 using thrift-store values.
Biden was the least wealthy senator, according to an analysis of financial disclosure reports by the Center for Responsive Politics, a Washington research group. Still, he was criticized during the campaign last year for giving an average of $369 a year to charity over the past decade while earning a six-figure income.
The vice president’s office today said that “the charitable donations claimed by the Bidens on their tax returns are not the sum of their annual contributions to charity,” and said the couple also donates to their church and gives their time, which isn’t deductible, to charities.
As they say in the hen house, \"cheap, cheap, cheap.\" But he\’s a leftist Democrat…so he can use our money rather than his.

Liberals are rather amusing. They consider me a tightwad; yet when I have provided them (many with six-figure incomes) names and military addresses for care packages, they seldom follow through. Not only that, after informing them that I have been sending parcels to Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan since late 2004, they advise me to look for a 501c group since that’s the only way to get tax deductions. I in turn remind them that it’s not about the deductions.
During the campaign, Obama’s handlers had to lean upon him to start upping his charitable contributions if only for the sake of keeping up appearances. For someone, who constantly harps on community involvement and outreach, Obama has been notoriously stingy (he and his wife made a constant complaint about having to repay their student loans — as if their schooling should have been provided gratis) in terms of making charitable gifts even after his income soared due to his book royalties.
The most damaging and revealing exceptions to Obama’s tighfistedness were the large sums that he donated to the Reverend Jeremiah Wright and his church. In one year alone, he donated close to $25,000.00 to the Trinity United Church of Christ.
