Gay marriage decision came from a tyrannical court

Before everyone drops into a deep swoon over the California Supreme Court’s decision “allowing” gay marriages, it might be worthwhile to read the entire 121-page decision to discover that it changes, well, practically nothing.

California already has extensive laws granting same-sex couples virtually the same rights as opposite-sex couples. The 4–3 majority recognized that fact but said the “substance” of the laws didn’t really matter. “The question we must address is whether . . . the failure to designate the official relationship of same-sex couples as marriage violates the California Constitution.”

Why are Sales Up? Must be a Recession

Despite a $1.15 Billion rise in Chicago retail sales, the Tribune tells us we are in a recession, with directions like:

“It’s a bruising climate. It may not be an economic recession, but there is a shopping recession.”

“You can see the recession starting to occur.”

Trib Propaganda for Obama

What total junk. Fine if you want to put this on the OpEd page, but on the front page?!

Tribune “reporter” Naftali Bendavid, apparently based in DC, writes an Obama propaganda piece, “Obama courts Jewish vote as doubts persist”.

The doubts come from Obama’s own words and actions which continue to be reprehensible, but Bendavid joins the whining Barack chorus claiming it’s some kind of “far right” conspiracy by his use of sanitizing words and neglecting to mention salient facts. Obama fundraiser and professor friend Rashid Khalidi is described by Bendavid as a “Palestinian activist” when he in fact was a PR operative for the terrorist PLO.

Ten Double Standard for this Year's Election

7. Racial generalizations of any type in connection with the candidacy of Barack Obama are out of order. Barack Obama is free to characterize his grandmother as a “typical white person” and to lump the middle-class voters of Pennsylvania together as nativists, racists, and superstitious in their reliance on religion and guns. Only endemic white racism — never anger over Obama’s overt racialist stereotyping of the white middle class and his Reverend’s slurs — can explain that group’s rejection of him at the primary polls.

8. Substantial campaign contributions and the money nexus in politics are pernicious, proof of the “old politics” with a long history of distorting campaigns. The record fund-raising and enormous war-chest of Barack Obama are instead proof of a healthy American democracy and preclude any need for public campaign financing.
