Earlier this morning, I saw Barack Obama speak on television in Indianapolis on the need to have lower gasoline prices.

Well, who could be against that? Obama, for one.

Senator John McCain has proposed a summer federal gasoline “tax holiday,” which Obama opposes. Hillary Clinton supports it.

In 2000, Illinois had a summer gas tax holiday, which then-State Senator Barack Obama voted for, as State Senator Matt Murphy (R-Mount Prospect), points out in this Illinois Republican Party press release:

The gas tax moratorium passed in 2000 with Barack Obama’s help lowered gas prices and saved Illinois drivers hundreds of millions of dollars. So I’m surprised to learn that Obama now opposes a federal moratorium this summer. Lowering gas prices would deliver immediate relief to American drivers and help grow our economy. It suggests very bad judgment, as do strong, persistent suggestions that Obama also accepted quite small contributions from extreme Left-wing veterans of the terrorist Weather Underground now living in Chicago.

Robert Creamer, not to be confused with the famed baseball writer, is now also going by the name of Bob, which I’m sure greatly pleases the more famous Creamer.

About Creamer the Lesser: For many years, he was the executive director of the Illinois Public Action Council. His wife, Jan Schakowsky, now a Democratic Illinois congresswoman who nominally represents me in Washington, was on the board of directors of the self-appointed consumer advocacy group. Creamer got caught kiting checks while running the group—he had done it before and was warned by federal authorities not to do it again. He didn’t listen, and got nabbed by the Feds again, which got him a trip to a Federal Prison Camp for five months last year.
