It would be a disservice to Don to focus on what we lost instead of rejoicing in what he gave us for three decades on WLS airwaves: good humor; keen wit; thoughtful commentary; and, a jovial heart. Don Wade was doing infotainment before it was part of our lexicon. No pretense. Nothing contrived. It was just Don & Roma being authentically Don & Roma to start your morning with a smile, to arm you with knowledge, and to help you make a little more sense of the world around us. …

Social media provides the means to have conversations with people you may otherwise have never met, as well as with people you wish you would have otherwise never met.

Mr. Morrison and his friends at SEIU make sport out of pushing around disabled children. A few short years ago, it was Mr. Morrison who attempted to intervene between the parents of disabled children and their children by forcing public sector unionization on private home health care workers (thankfully he failed).
Such a moment occurred last week when Mr. Morrison chose to opine …

“I think we’ve seen this playbook from Republicans before. What they want to do when they are lacking a positive agenda is try to drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations. We’re not going to let that happen.” – Obama Adviser Dan Pfeiffer yesterday on “Meet the Press”
“This (IRS scandal) was a breach of the public trust. And we have to work together to rebuild that trust. That’s going to require Republicans to do this in a legitimate, serious governmental way and not …

In Our Illinois, “we leave no worker behind,” according to Quinn. Back in Actual Illinois, this news must have come as quite a surprise to the 9% of Illinoisans (truly more like 15%) who are unemployed.

In Our Illinois, “small business means big business,” said Quinn and therefore, “Driving economic growth for small businesses requires doing all we can to make sure government is not in the way.” Back in Actual Illinois, small businesses are paying the fourth-highest combined national-local corporate tax in the industrialized world. In Actual Illinois, the only …

The Chicago Democrats in charge of Illinois are running another scam on the most vulnerable Illinoisans with their proposed non-reform of the state’s Medicaid program. What Governor Quinn had initially presented as a plan to reduce Medicaid spending by $2.7 billion has come out the other end of the Springfield sausage grinder as a plan to raise taxes and impose counterproductive price controls that will worsen the access to quality health care for low-income families and disabled persons.

Furthermore, the proffered plan includes an end-run around the United States Supreme Court …

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a more dissociative political ad. Rahm is running against…well, Rahm. He is sick of politicians “getting rich off this system”. You know, like Rahm did.

From the New York Times (HT Eric Zorn)
Emanuel (made) more than $18 million in just two-and-a-half years, turning many of his contacts in his substantial political Rolodex into paying clients and directing his negotiating prowess and trademark intensity to mergers and acquisitions. He also benefited from the opportune sale of Wasserstein Perella to a German bank, helping him to an …

The President, who suggested Wednesday night that doctors routinely perform unnecessary, dangerous surgery on children for profit, thinks that government bureaucrats are more qualified to prescribe treatment for these children than are physicians. His superior faith in unelected, unqualified bureaucrats over medical professionals should be no surprise. He learned it while serving quietly as an appendage of the Chicago Democrat political establishment and protecting corrupt state entities like the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board.
I have committed this campaign to sharing with you the true nature of state government systems and …

We are not confident you will get an honest evaluation of the facts from the Sun-Times or Ms. Marin.
As you can tell from her use of such loaded terms as “henchmen” and “acid-tongued” in her column today, and her previous use of insults against public officials based on weight and other physical characteristics, she does not come to this issue objectively.
While there have been lively exchanges between Carol and Dan in the past, and as much as we may enjoy trading barbs with Ms. Marin, Dan’s candidacy demands a full …

“Crazy people.”
That’s what Paul Krugman, New York Times columnist and preferred economist of aspiring despots, called the hundreds of thousands of Americans planning on attending Tax Day tea parties around the nation tomorrow.
They are “crazy” for not understanding why everyone seems to have a claim on the money they earn except them.

Getting Things Done for People
That was the slogan of Rod Blagojevich’s 2006 re-election campaign. Who would have thought a phrase so utterly devoid of meaning would foretell such truth?
Governor Blagojevich was certainly getting things done for people–for himself, for his wife, for his campaign contributors, and for just about anyone who was willing to pay sticker price for government spoils.
Given the starkness of the schemes as recorded in Blagojevich’s own words, flabbergasted Illinoisans are wondering how a Governor could be so brazen. After all, in what undiscovered dimension lives a …
