As reported by Crain’s Chicago Business, Chicago homeowners are once again being hammered by excessively high property tax bills. According to Cook County Clerk David Orr, residents saw an average property tax increase of 12.8 percent. However, some homeowners, especially those living in the city, saw increases as high as 77 percent. These staggering increases are leaving many residents wondering if they can afford to stay in their homes.
