Late last week I learned that Mitt Romney’s surge or “momentum” was stopped in its tracks. While some national polls gave the Republican an edge, Barack Obama’s two recent debate wins seem to have started him on the road to recovery—especially in the swing states that still portend an Electoral College victory. It is too early to call this uptick for Obama a “trend,” and the situation remains volatile enough to reverse itself, but at the moment I would rather be in Obama’s shoes than in his challenger’s.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports on an Illinois state House race:
In a House district that is 51-percent Latino, state Rep. Angelo “Skip” Saviano said Tuesday he has lined up backing from the best-known Latino politician in Illinois.
There’s more:
Saviano (R-Elmwood Park), who is running against Democrat Kathleen Willis for the 77th House District, plans to announce an endorsement by U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) during an event Tuesday at Saviano’s Wood Dale campaign office.

A confidential source, familiar with the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform chaired by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), has informed illinoispaytoplay.com that Issa’s committee is conducting a preliminary investigation into the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois (USAO) pertaining to USAO leaks to the media that may represent an obstruction of justice.
