Last week I went to my first AIPAC conference in Washington DC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee). Since the year 1955 I must have attended more than three hundred conferences, conventions, symposiums and assorted gatherings, including sixteen national political conventions (12 Democratic, 4 Republican), the 1992 UN conference on the environment in Rio, the 2010 IOC meeting in Copenhagen. But this was the most memorable and most impressive of all of them. I have to say that the others in contention were the 1956,1960 and 2008 …

In hearing all the stories about the gigantic “health care reform” bill that the Democrats have rammed through Congress, which politicians’ names come to mind? Barack Obama, of course, and Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid. Maybe even the late Ted Kennedy, who spent his entire Senate career of nearly half a century promoting similar schemes.
Well, here’s the name of another politician: Danny Williams. Never heard of him, you say? Well, neither had I, until just a few weeks ago. He certainly isn’t well-known in America. In fact, he’s not even …

The 3rd Annual Illinois Catholic Prayer Breakfast is honored to feature Bishop Salvatore J. Cordileone of Oakland, California as the keynote speaker for April 30th 2010.
Bishop Cordileone was gracious enough to adjust his schedule to step in as our emergency speaker. We are grateful to him for saying yes to our invitation.
Bishop Cordileone is perhaps most well known for his leadership in the Proposition 8 movement in California to protect natural marriage.
He will speak about the basic principles of Catholic Social Teaching and share with us his experience with the …

At least 13 states are filing lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of the federal heath care act, but not Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan.

“We are not commencing litigation to challenge federal health care reform,” Madigan’s office responded to my e-mail query. No surprise there. If Madigan joined the others, it would be the first blue state to argue that the act is in violation of the Tenth Amendment, which says: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved …

The anger is genuine and needs no mongering. Democrats and Republicans detest the Obama Care Bill. I am a Democrat and my neighbors are Democrats. We do not like this force fed boondoggle any more than a poor goose likes having corn forced down its throat.

Ironically, the very same band of nitwits in public life who hate smoking, fat kids, fois gras and American History crafted the Obama Care Legislation and stand poised to make America go the way of Greece, Ireland and Portugal once the Obama …

From the Catholic Conference of Illinois
The Catholic Conference of Illinois (CCI) today celebrates the passage of Senate Bill 2494. The legislation, sponsored by Senator James Meeks (D-Chicago) and co-sponsored by Senator Dan Cronin (R-Elmhurst), seeks to provide tuition vouchers to the families of children enrolled in Chicago’s lowest performing schools.

The bill passed with 33 Yeas, 20 Nays and 3 Present votes and now goes to the Illinois House of Representatives for consideration. If the legislation is enacted into law, families receiving vouchers would be able to enroll their …

Convicted felon Robert Creamer, who wrote the blueprint for the Democrats’ health care reform campaign, attended official health care signing celebrations in Washington, D.C. yesterday. He was joined by numerous activists and “community organizers” who have had their sights set on nationalizing health care and have finally achieved it. Creamer’s spouse, Rep. Jan Schakowsky, was one of the bill’s most vociferous proponents.
