Richard Viguerie.

The word “betrayal” is hardly ever used in politics these days except by a scarce genus of conspiratorial Republicans who think they taste fluoride in the drinking water… usually a few rich entrepreneurs who feel they’ve bought title to the brand after working in the vineyard during the parched years and chafe that they haven’t been sufficiently revered for their output of money.
Nationally, the leading protagonist of Republican “betrayal” is a cranky has-been: Richard Viguerie. He was a direct mail king who made a fortune from Republicans-starting with Barry …

Carol Marin has a stern lecture for American Catholics who do not agree with the Democratic Party platform, and an even bolder tone against Bishops who might dare to adhere to the Catechism. Beware, Marin warns us, because you are besmirching Cardinal Bernadin, who on his deathbed proposed that Catholics accept a monopoly of the Democratic Party. Some Bishops have even been against holding Carol’s version of a “dialogue” with President Obama.
Lo and behold, some of those same Bishops who were the against combination of party and religion, paid …

What a torrent of events this past couple of weeks. So, having an opinion on damn near everything, here’s a half dozen columns crunched down to one quick read:
•    It looks more and more as if President Obama will not get a health-care bill with the all-important “public option” insurance program designed to keep private insurers honest. Don’t blame the Republicans for this one—he’s being shafted by Blue Dogs in his own party. But he absolutely must sign a reform bill of some kind. The best he can hope for …

“I love America. That’s why it has to be destroyed.“
The quotation cited above comes from a liberal character in the 2008 satirical comedy “An American Carol.” David Zucker’s film skewered the American political left for its arrogance and its hypocrisy. Sadly, one can easily see President Obama or some member of his administration expressing a similar oxymoronic sentiment to explain its peculiar and destructive policies.
Obama seems intent upon destroying the American love affair with the automobile by crippling the auto industry and laying waste to the larger economy. If no …

I spent a good portion of the weekend alternatively wondering what Congressman Mark Kirk’s explanation was for his vote in favor of the Waxman Markey energy bill, commonly known as the ‘climate change’ bill (technically, the American Clean Energy and Security Act, or “ACES” as the acronym-builders would have it), and then reading the posts and comments of many, many upset Republicans on various blogs and newspaper websites. As we explained here last week, many view this bill as nothing more than an astonishingly large new tax on the American …

Mark Kirk was the only Republican member of the Illinois congressional delegation that voted Friday night for HR 2454,  commonly referred to as “Cap and Trade” or a “Global Warming” bill. The federal legislation taxing the use of energy, passed by a mere seven votes, eight of which were Republican votes. Biggert, another Republican congresswoman who often votes with Democrats on social issues, was a question until she spoke on the House floor Friday against the Waxman-Markey bill.

A single black mother renting in Mount Greenwood had her garage victimized by Hate Criminals. Some person or persons painted the garage on the property she rents with hate words. Kids most likely. Kids.
Kennedy Park, in my Morgan Park neighborhood, had its property victimized by Hate Criminals. Some person or persons painted Swastikas on the Chicago Park District Property. Kids most likely. Kids.
The Chicago Sun Times News Group has gone flat-out to raise these crimes against property to the level of Group Hate.

We Americans are now “Alice through the looking glass”.  Everything is in reverse as far as one can see.  Instead of our elected leaders working for us, we’re working for them.  And, as much as they try to sell this presidential health care plan – which they still have yet to fully explain despite hours of airtime on the main stream media – it still isn’t as good as the plan our elected leaders enjoy.
Take a look at what our esteemed lawmakers in Washington get in their health care plan.  …
